SEGD Sustainability Forum
The SEGD Sustainability Forum is a group of designers, fabricators, and consultants committed to promoting sustainable approaches to environmental graphic design.

Gary Anzalone
Gary Anzalone is a principal of architectural sign manufacturer Precision Signs. During his tenure, the company has grown from a two-person venture to a manufacturing facility with more than 80 employees.
Gary’s focus has always been to be environmentally responsible. A founding member and past chair of USGBC Long Island, he strives to operate his company by doing what’s right for the environment: for example, in-house water jet and laser cutting, the use of low-VOC paints, and alternative fabrication techniques. By controlling all processes, Gary is able to address issues of quality, economy, and ecology.
Gary has been an SEGD member for 19 years and the organization’s New York chapter chair for 16 years.

Kelly David
Kelly David, Director of Marketing and Product Management for ASI, has been working in the field of marketing since 2000. Kelly currently works to identify market needs and create solutions to solve market demands. Green has been on the forefront of her team's research since 2007. From testing new materials to identifying partnerships to provide more eco-friendly solutions to educating the industry, the ASI team is continually focused on identifying the latest industry innovations.
Thomas Horton
Thomas Horton, Senior Associate at Gensler, serves as the firm’s environmental graphic design director in the San Francisco Brand Design Studio. Tom is responsible for developing solutions for signage systems, branded environments, retail stores, and exhibit environments. During his 20 years with Gensler, Tom’s specialized expertise includes signage and wayfinding at Shanghai Tower, San Francisco International Airport, General Service Administration locations nationwide, and recently, a LEED-focused project at the University of the Pacific. He has also designed retail and branded environments for Club One, REI, Toyota USA, and CNET Networks, as well as exhibition and museum spaces for Monterey Bay Aquarium, the California Academy of Sciences, and Shaklee Corp., among others. Many of Tom’s projects have achieved LEED certification, and feature his innovative approaches to green signage and LEED education interpretive programs.

Craig Johnson
Craig Johnson has provided the creative design and direction for more than 40 award-winning interactive multimedia programs, videos, and films. These efforts have focused on the integration of engaging storytelling and innovative media technology. As a principal in Interpret Green, Craig develops programs that explore and advocate for the natural environment, sustainable communities, and collaborative creative expression for the public good. His in-depth experience in developing multimedia applications includes productions for museum installations, visitor centers, public-access kiosks, websites, and outdoor interpretive environments. His client list includes American Institute of Architects, American Express, Kodak, New York Stock Exchange, The Smithsonian, and UNICEF.

Dave Miller
Dave Miller is Business Director for Nova Polymers, a manufacturer of architectural signage materials. Dave is responsible for global business relationships, organizational performance, development of strategic partnerships, and mentoring future leaders in the organization. He is a member of the United Sates Green Building Council’s Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and holds a seat on the ANSI A117.1 committee (American National Standards Institute) representing SEGD, and co-chairs the International Sign Association’s Supplier & Distributor Conference.
In 2005, Dave began creating educational programs for material manufacturers geared toward architectural and design firms. These courses began as educational presentations related to environmental graphic design, and the use of materials and methodologies that have a low impact on our environment.

Naomi Pearson
Naomi Pearson is a designer, illustrator, and sustainability consultant who focuses on developing sustainable strategies that inform the design process. As host of the radio show "Design Evolution" recorded on Voice America, she interviewed trailblazing designers, scientists, educators, manufacturers, and environmental experts. She was also Guest Editor of segdDESIGN's special issue on Sustainability and EGD (No. 28/2010).
Naomi currently works for the Wildlife Conservation Society's Exhibit and Graphic Arts Department in the Center for Global Conservation at the Bronx Zoo. Prior to her work there, she was the Manager of Sustainable Design at Two Twelve Associates. She is a contributor to the Designers Accord for positive environmental social impact, an active member of the Eco Design Network 02nyc, and a member of Green Leaders Global. She has a BFA in Graphic Design from Carnegie Mellon University and lives in Brooklyn, NY.

Mike Santos
Mike Santos, Director of Sales and Product Development for Nova Polymers, has spent the past several years working with product manufacturers, fabricators, and architectural designers to develop environmentally responsible materials and business practices. In addition to his work with the SEGD Sustainability Forum, Mike is a member of the International Sign Association’s Environmental Subcommittee and the founder and author of The Green Resource Guide blog. He speaks on the topic of environmental consciousness in signage to a variety of audiences in multiple venues. In addition, Mike also represents the ISA on the ANSI A117.1 Accessibility Committee.
Danny Schneider
Danny Schneider, Director of Business Development for Vista System, is an active member of the sign industry and a green enthusiast. During the past three years, he has focused on promoting Vista System and green awareness worldwide. Internally, Danny is working closely with Vista System supply-chain members to design and manufacture a durable, recyclable, and reusable modular sign system. Externally, he is working closely with the SEGD Sustainability Forum, as well as the International Sign Association, the USGBC, the Green Business Partnership, and several additional groups worldwide in an effort to inform others about how they can operate and provide a greener product.

John Souter
John Souter, PhD, is Director of Operations for Accent Signage Systems, a high-tech wholesale fabricator of interior ADA signage. John joined Accent in 2005 after almost 20 years with 3M, where he was responsible for research and development in color science and digital imaging, working in Europe, Asia, and the United States.
In addition to his work with the SEGD Sustainability Forum, John authored SEGD's ADA White Paper on Color Contrast and is currently serving on the International Sign Association’s Technical Committee, also representing ISA on the ANSI 117.1 committee for ADA.

Harry Spetnagel
Harry Spetnagel is an Associate Design Director in Gensler’s Denver office. He joined Gensler in 2006 with more than 15 years experience in sign design and fabrication. As owner of Planet Graphics, a design/build thematic signage company, he designed and built projects for Lorimar Television, Six Flags, Warner Brothers, and several healthcare networks. As a project manager for Arapahoe Sign Arts in Denver, he directed the design, documentation, project management, and implementation of EGD projects from concept design to completion for several regional and national clients, including museums, resort hotels, and sports venues. At Gensler he is fascinated by design process and communication as it relates to defining the issues, designing meaningful solutions, and delivering positive results for clients.
